Dr. Rajan Isaacs is a distinguished nephrologist with over three decades of expertise in the field of kidney care and transplantation. He holds an impressive academic background, having completed his medical education at prestigious institutions such as Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Dr. Isaacs is renowned for his exceptional skills in managing complex kidney disorders and has earned a reputation as one of the leading experts in nephrology in Ludhiana, Punjab.

As the head of Kidney Care Hospital, located within Deepak Hospital’s premises, Dr. Isaacs is dedicated to providing top-tier kidney care with a focus on personalized treatment and state-of-the-art facilities.

  • MBBS: Completed MBBS  from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, affiliated with Punjab University, Chandigarh, from July 1981 to December 1985. The institution is recognized by the Medical Council of India, and the course spanned five years. Passed all university examinations on the first attempt, achieving first division.
  • MD in Medicine: Pursued MD in Medicine at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, from January 1990 to July 1992, also affiliated with Punjab University.
  • DM in Nephrology: Subsequently, obtained a DM in Nephrology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), from January 1994 to January 1996. This postgraduate higher specialty training was a two-year program, and he successfully cleared the qualifying university examination on the first attempt. 
  • Dr. Rajan Isaacs has had an illustrious career in nephrology, marked by significant roles in patient care, teaching, and the development of kidney care infrastructure:
  • Assistant Professor in Nephrology (February 1996 – April 1999) at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana: In this role, Dr. Isaacs was deeply involved in patient care as well as the educational programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students specializing in nephrology.
  • Associate Professor in Nephrology (April 1999 – May 2001) at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana: As an associate professor, Dr. Isaacs took on expanded responsibilities that included clinical duties, teaching, and research. His position was equivalent to that of an associate professor in other universities, further establishing his academic and clinical leadership in nephrology.
  • Consultant Nephrologist : Dr. Isaacs has played a pivotal role in setting up multiple dialysis units across Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, significantly enhancing the accessibility of dialysis treatment in these regions. He is currently associated with Deepak Kidney Care Center in Ludhiana, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with 20 dialysis units and performing over 1,000 dialysis sessions per month. His responsibilities at the center encompass both clinical duties and administrative oversight. 
  • Rejoined as Associate  Professor (April 2016 – Present) at Christian Medical College and Hospital: Dr. Isaacs returned to his alma mater to continue his passion for teaching, now mentoring DM Nephrology candidates while actively participating in patient care and advancing nephrology education.

    His contributions to nephrology, both as an educator and a clinician, have had a profound impact on kidney care in the region.

From February 1997 to February 1999 I was involved in the administration of the nephrology Department as the Officiating Head. I was responsible for the day to day administration and in the planning of further development.

He was appointed as the Deputy Medical Superintendent in April 1999.
